When the Liliesleaf Trust commenced work on the Liliesleaf Legacy Project in January 2002, one of the key objectives was to ensure the preservation of the authenticity of the site. As a consequence, approximately 60% of the building infrastructures today are comprised of original brickwork. During the excavation process, over seven different types of brickface were uncovered and any post-1963 brick was discarded. This brickwork was used in the restoration of the historical buildings and structures, which today constitute the museum component of Liliesleaf, a project which began in mid-2004.

INTERACTIVE TABLE > MANOR HOUSE
The table displays a 3d interface consisting of video, images, audio, and text. The interface is browsed by visitors using two aluminum ‘navigators’, that allow them to view info about the Apartheid era in South Africa.
The outbuildings were uncovered during the course of archaeological excavation. It was from these very buildings and structures that liberation activity, dialogue and planning took place.
